Creating Unforgettable Experiences in the Heart of the Klein Karoo

 

At Klein Karoo Day Tours, we specialize in offering authentic, guided day tours in and around Oudtshoorn. Our mission is simple: to provide guests with unforgettable, safe, and enriching experiences as they explore the natural beauty and unique culture of the Klein Karoo region.

Founded by Louise and Johan Keller, proud owners of the renowned De Denne Country Guesthouse, the idea for Klein Karoo Day Tours was born from their passion for sharing the region’s hidden treasures with travelers from around the world.

During their years of hosting visitors, Louise and Johan discovered that many guests longed to explore the Swartberg Pass, but were hesitant to drive the winding, narrow roads themselves. To meet this need, they purchased a comfortable 8-seater vehicle, hired a professional, registered tour guide, and began offering exclusive, personalized tours to their own guests.

What began as a small add-on service has since expanded beyond De Denne to include travelers staying at other guesthouses in Oudtshoorn and the greater Klein Karoo area. Today, Klein Karoo Day Tours is a trusted local operator offering expertly guided adventures through the Swartberg Mountains, Meiringspoort, Route 62, and beyond.

Meiringspoort Pass

This scenic pass on the N12 carves through a gorge in the Swartberg Mountains, crossing the same river 25 times over a 25 km stretch. It's a dramatic and beautiful route linking the Little Karoo to the Great Karoo, with towering cliffs and waterfalls along the way.
  • Our day tour included: a informative and educative tour at an ostrich farm, a visit to the Cango caves and a picnic on a mountain slope with a awesome view. The guide Melissa did an amazing job. She cared for us with passion and a good dash of South African hospitality and not the least a gut portion of Humour . It was also no Problem to fit our pre booked Elephant feeding experience in their itinerary. The Price / Value ratio is also excellent. were friendly, cordial, attentive and had a good dash of the famous typical South African warm hearted humour.

  • Our guide Jako was fun and informative, we got an amazing tour of an Ostrich farm (who knew Ostriches were so fascinating?!) and got taken to the incredible Kango caves.
