What Awaits You in the Klein Karoo

The Swartberg Mountains
This majestic mountain range is one of the most prominent natural landmarks in the Western Cape. Stretching approximately 230 km from Laingsburg to Uniondale and up to 70 km wide, the Swartberg Mountains rise to dramatic heights above 2,000 meters, with the highest peak, Seweweekspoortpiek, reaching 2,325 meters. Once towering over 7,000 meters before erosion, this ancient range showcases awe-inspiring geological history.

The quartzite sandstone formations offer breathtaking views, and much of the Swartberg is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to rare species of the Cape Floral Kingdom. Travel along the famous Swartberg Pass for panoramic vistas and a glimpse into the diverse local ecology.
